The event includes Harris, Galveston and Montgomery County restaurants. One hundred percent of the donations raised from restaurants in these counties will go directly to their local area food banks. The Galveston County Food Bank and Montgomery County Food Bank are part of the Houston Food Bank’s Partner Distribution Organizations (PDOs). The Houston Food Bank provides food to these smaller food banks, which in turn distribute the food to hunger relief charities in a portion of HFB’s service area. The Houston Food Bank certifies that their PDOs meet Feeding America standards.
The Houston Food Bank is a solution to hunger in times of need. America’s largest and nationally
recognized as Feeding America’s ‘Food Bank of the Year,’ the Food Bank distributes 59 million nutritious
meals through its network of 600 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and other hunger relief charities in
southeast Texas, feeding 800,000 individuals each year.
Fresh produce, meat and nonperishables are distributed from the warehouse at 535 Portwall, and meals for kids are prepared and distributed from Keegan Center, a 15,000 square-foot industrial kitchen. Additional community services include nutrition education, school-based programs, food stamp applications and hands-on job training. Red Barrels offer a convenient way for grocery shoppers to donate nonperishables for their neighbors in need.
The Houston Food Bank, founded in 1982, is a certified member of Feeding America, the nation’s food bank network, with a four-star rating from Charity Navigator.

Houston Restaurant Weeks was established in 2003 by Cleverley Stone, host of “The Cleverley Show,” a food talk radio program on CBS Sports Radio 650/KIKK-AM in Houston, Texas and food segment contributor to Houston’s Fox 26 Morning News for the past eight and one half years. To date, HRW has raised over $7.6 million to fight hunger in Houston, and has provided almost 23 million meals to neighbors in need through the Houston Food Bank. The HRW team of volunteers donate their time and resources to produce the event so that 100% of the donations raised go directly to the Houston Food Bank.
